Welcome to Qigong for Wellbeing. My name is Yasmin Shah and I teach Qigong and Meditation.
Both Qigong and Meditation are ancient practices known to improve physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. They are great ways to feel calm, centred and refreshed. The traditions of Qigong and Insight Meditation are also paths for developing insight, wisdom and happiness.
Almost anyone can practice Qigong and Meditation. In my classes Qigong and/or Meditation can be done while moving, standing and sitting, and no special equipment or clothing is needed! I work, and have worked with, with people of all ages and in a variety of settings: young people in a local secondary school where I teach Mindfulness practice, drop in community Qigong classes for people of all ages, lunch time work place sessions for Local Council employees, people with dementia attending a Dementia Day Service and also those living in an independent specialised care home, people with mental health issues in supported housing and those in a NHS acute mental health setting, community classes run by Age Concern, as well as working one-to-one with people. I have also run sessions for staff at schools and for the NHS.
I have studied both Meditation and Qigong and have regularly practised both for quite a few years. This has helped to steady and strengthen me in body, mind and spirit. The regular practise of Meditation and Qigong has enabled me to overcome difficulties and stress better, to make wiser choices, and to live more harmoniously.
Now I enjoy sharing my knowledge of both Qigong and Insight Meditation with the intention of bringing about a greater sense of wellbeing and ease. I teach with lightness, a sense of fun and a deep respect for tradition.
It is important to me that all who come to me, regardless of their physical and emotional needs, are able to participate, enjoy and feel the benefit of the practice, be it Qigong, Insight Meditation, or a combination of both. In addition I run courses, workshops and individual tuition for those who are unable to attend classes or workshops, or who prefer individual support.
